About this video |
A partnership project between Isobel Mair School and East Renfrewshire Council has given the pupils the chance to develop the skills needed to run an enterprise called the Yummy Treats Cafe selling baked goods to council employees. They have improved their numeracy and financial skills and learnt to follow recipes and interact with customers. The pupils plan what they are going to bake, go to the shops to buy the ingredients and make the cakes, following all the hygiene requirements. They then also sell the goods which gives them an opportunity to develop their communication skills. Its is hoped that as well as improving their core skills, though the project they might also find an area of work that interests them and which increases their employability. |
