Coming Soon – Parent Toolkit

Narrator: Curriculum for Excellence is now being introduced in schools and learning centres across Scotland for all three to eighteen year olds wherever they learn.  It aims to raise standards and try forward improvements in learning and teaching, so that children are well prepared for life in an ever changing world.  It is the single biggest reform in education in a generation, it balances the importance of knowledge and skills, and promotes connections across all learning, so that young people can use their learning to help them as they move on in life.

Curriculum for Excellence will help give young people the foundations they need to go on to further study, secure work, navigate life and ultimately fulfil their true potential at a pace they can cope with, and in a way that works for them.

Parents want to fully understand these important aspects of the new curriculum, and what the improvements will mean for their child.  Teachers, and those who work with children and young people are the key communications channel for parents and carers.

In January we will launch a Curriculum for Excellence toolkit to support all practitioners as they engage with parents and carers.  It will help them deliver key information about Curriculum for Excellence, and answer questions parents may have about how it will affect their own child.  Toolkit materials will be available to download from the Curriculum for Excellence website, and a number of supporting printed materials will also be produced.

As we gain a greater understanding of Curriculum for Excellence parents and practitioners will be able to work together in the delivery of Curriculum for Excellence.
