Transcript: Design and Technology 2

Child: And the technology I thought was something really, really different, because we’ve never really like been told, “Right, make this.” Like if we doing like a bigger project, and I know we might have made something, but we’ve never like worked with paper. And it was like everybody was sitting there rolling reels of tape around everything, and then she was like, “Right, stop. Not a lot of Sellotape.” And everybody’s like oh my gosh, and it was really [laughter] … it was really good fun working out like how you can change things and I found it really interesting writing our plan. And you think, oh yeah, that’ll work, no problem, it’ll be really easy. And then you get to it and you’re like, why isn’t this working, oh my gosh, how am I going to do this?

Child: My guitar is called ‘Pokasound,’ and I made it by cutting out the … well, the shape of the body and then I cut out a long strip of card and I made tabs and I stuck it together. And then I slotted a rolled up piece of card inside the body and I stuck the head on, and then I attached the strings and I found it quite difficult not to like just put lots of Sellotape on it and stick it together.

Child: My guitar is called ‘Shooting Star,’ and I got my inspiration because I wanted something really unique, and so, like I said, I tried to do a lightning strike and … but it didn’t really work, so I tried to do a star instead. And it’s kind of got a fitting in here that went into the body and the tuning pegs were kind of meant to be in the shape of a star but some of them have fallen off. And we’ve got a tuning peg up here as well.

Child: My guitar’s called ‘The Eye of the Tiger.’ When I was making it, first I started off with just white card and then I added tabs inside of it to make it 3-D. And then just used Sellotape just to support it. And then I just got the shape by cutting out the orange card. When … before I was making it, on my design I … I knew I wanted something with pink flames to make it really girly, and … and then I didn’t know what else to do, so I just added like some black stripes all over to make it kind of different.
