In May 2009 Glow was awarded the top platinum award at the IMS Global Learning Impact Awards, which recognise outstanding use of technology worldwide in support of learning.
The recognition of Glow on the world stage illustrates its valuable application in Scotland’s classrooms, enhancing the quality of learning and teaching by fully supporting the delivery of Curriculum for Excellence - providing 21st century technology for 21st century learning.
Principal Teacher of Computing and ICTTo my mind, the biggest benefit of Glow is that it facilitates the sharing of good practice. It’s very easy to migrate to Glow, and it’s always going to be available, any time and any place. It could even lead to parents getting more involved in their children’s education. It opens up new pathways and new perspectives. Surely that is what constructivism is all about?
Curriculum for Excellence is about breaking down the boundaries between different subjects and disciplines, and that’s what Glow does – it makes connections across the divisions and even across schools.
The Glow team asked pupils if they use Glow in the classroom as part of a project or at home to help with their homework. They were asked to submit a short video telling the team why they love Glow.
Here are some of those videos.
