Education Scotland are engaging with suppliers, HE and FE communities, and local authorities to investigate solutions that will allow pupils and staff to connect to a network using their own devices. Work continues with these communities to determine the educational benefits and technical requirements of delivering this network.

Please note the following statement from Michael Russell, MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning.
'The Scottish Government is aware of the recent recommendations made by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe concerning the potential dangers of mobiles and other devices emitting microwaves in schools and classroom environments.
Recent studies by the UK’s Health Protection Agency (HPA) have found that the signals from Wi-Fi are very low power, and well within internationally-accepted guidelines. The HPA advises that there is no consistent evidence to date that exposure to radiofrequency signals from Wi-Fi and wireless local area networks adversely affects the health of the general population, and no reason why schools and others should not use Wi-Fi equipment.
However, as with any new technology, a sensible precautionary approach is to keep the situation under review. As such the Scottish Government will continue to monitor the advice from the HPA and would encourage all Scottish Local Authorities to do likewise.'
