Many schools are progressing with the development of detailed plans for delivery of the senior phase to those young people who started secondary school in S1 in 2010/11. In practice, these plans will be introduced when they reach S4 in 2013/14. In order to support this planning, some illustrations have been developed to provide examples of how the senior phase could look.
Each school will, of course, develop its own plans which reflect the needs of its individual learners. The examples presented here are neither exhaustive nor prescriptive, nor are they intended to set or pre-empt policy. They represent current thinking at the time of their publication, and their authors may have subsequently reconsidered elements of the individual models.
The examples have been considered by the Scottish Government, SQA, HMIE and Scotland’s Colleges to ensure that they reflect the values, principles and purposes of Curriculum for Excellence.
The examples include curriculum maps, an explanation of the thinking behind the plans and learner journeys. The learner journeys have been included to provide an illustration of a number of routes through each of the examples. The SCQF points for each learner are also included. Further information on the SCQF framework is available in the supporting learners section.
