Challenging Sectarianism DVD

The Challenging Sectarianism DVD was issued to schools by the Scottish Government in 2006. The main sections of the DVD outline drama lessons which were piloted in Dumfries and Galloway. The same lessons were delivered to children and young people in primary and secondary schools, as well as in youth work.

Techniques such as ice-breakers, peer learning, contracting, hot-seating and active listening are employed. The Odds and Evens exercise is based on the concept of the brown-eyed, blue-eyed work of Jane Elliot. The children and young people work in groups to perform their own drama project in the final session.

The DVD also has a section on professional development, which is useful for practitioners as part of CPD or training.
