Sustainable housing learning journey

The Sustainable housing learning journey is for teaching about some of the knowledge and skills that are needed to help analyse an environmental issue and make informed suggestions as to ways to manage impact. The environmental issue relates housing to the issue of sustainability and the context of developing sustainable housing for a given community.

In this journey, learners build up knowledge and skills through a curriculum focus in social studies. The lesson ideas allow learners to see the purpose and relevance of investigating an environmental issue relating, specifically, to sustainable housing and how to develop informed suggestions relating to this issue. Learners can then apply these skills in the interdisciplinary challenge where they develop a proposal for sustainable housing for a local authority.

There are rich opportunities in this learning journey, to develop young peoples understanding of the skills involved in creating an informed proposal and relating this to the world of work.
