Scottish Learning Festival

Theme

The theme for the Scottish Learning Festival 2011 is Curriculum for Excellence: Learning, Teaching and Assessment, Making the Connections.

Schools and local authorities across the country have been working to implement the new curriculum.  In doing so, they are bringing together learning, teaching and assessment in the implementation of the experiences and outcomes. Schools and educational settings seek to ensure that they are well placed to offer young people learning and teaching experiences that will enable them to contribute flexibly and creatively to Scotland’s future.

SLF 2011 will offer practitioners with an opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge to enable them to offer young people deep and connected learning that will nurture the knowledge and understanding they need for life and learning.

It is a unique opportunity to explore innovative approaches to learning and teaching and will bring together and showcase examples of teaching, learning and assessment and demonstrate how Glow and other technologies are being used.

The successful implementation of Curriculum for Excellence relies on connecting learning, teaching and assessment and SLF 2011 will explore how these practices support the new curriculum, learner engagement and personalisation.
