Baker Street Nursery School worked in partnership with neighbouring school, Allan’s Primary. The theme was ‘Using numbers to count’.

Staff from both settings held joint planning meetings to discuss the project, the way forward and how to evaluate their findings. An audit was also conducted across both settings to ensure maximum use and exchange of active learning approaches in Numeracy.

Their aims were to:

  • collaborate and share expertise in active learning approaches, observation and planning for next steps in children’s learning
  • ensure progression for all children in their developing numeracy skills
  • enhance transition between nursery and P1
  • further develop an understanding of numeracy with staff in both settings
  • continue to involve parents in their children’s learning and raise their awareness of numeracy opportunities.
