These include daily practice of reciting number word sequences forwards and backwards; numeral activities; screened problem solving tasks prompting understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; and finger and special patterns to enhance understanding of the relationship between numbers.

There are no set mathematics topics for particular stages, so mathematics can be linked to interdisciplinary studies. Teachers are currently piloting a recently produced framework, which is in the form of a skills ladder showing progression within the whole subject area of mathematics.
