Introduction: A Christian Chaplaincy Team in a Secondary School - Rosshall Academy

Adult meeting 260x210

Penilee and Crookston Castle schools combined to become Rosshall Academy in 2002. With the new building in construction and a new headteacher in place, the time was right for the calling together of a meeting of local clergy.

The Chaplaincy Team was formalised, with seven local congregations represented - six Churches of Scotland and one Episcopal Church. These included all the chaplains to the associated primaries. In due course a nearby Baptist minister was also asked to join, making eight congregations and ten clergy.

The example of Ross Hall shows how developing a chaplaincy team took place with increasing co-operation between the churches.  The team is well integrated in many aspects of school life.

This case study was put together by Graham Cartlidge, a teacher at Rosshall.
