
Scottish Ballet aims to awaken interest, ignite passion and foster talent by providing a broad-ranging access and participation programme which raises awareness and appreciation of Scottish Ballet and its artistic direction, promotes ballet as a contemporary art form and enhances the lives and learning of people of all ages and abilities.
Scottish Ballet is Scotland’s national dance company and its education programme aims to operate as nationally as possible, supporting the work of the company on tour, from small rural communities to large-scale touring venues as well as in and around the company’s home in Glasgow.
Scottish Ballet works in partnership with local authorities, venues and other organisations, building long-term relationships and exciting initiatives. The company welcomes approaches and ideas for collaborative and innovative projects.

Scottish Ballet offers primary schools repertoire-based dance workshops delivered by a dance artist and accompanied by a musician in the school. Fun and fully accessible, workshops are designed to complement and enhance the experience of a visit to a Scottish Ballet production as well as enriching the curriculum.

Repertoire-based practical dance workshops tailored to suit the age and experience of the class to challenge and inspire pupils. Workshops are delivered by a dance artist and accompanied by a musician in the school.

Illustrated talks are given for students of art and design, music, dance, PE, English or drama, or an agreed combination of these subjects in the school or the venue prior to a performance.
Talks include a brief history and background of Scottish Ballet, including the range of career opportunities with the company. Pupils receive an insight into all aspects of production, and this experience is enhanced by extracts of the music, production photographs, set designs and costumes.
A new series of lecture demonstrations and special matinees for the theatre stage or in the venue’s education suite.
Specific aspects such as choreography, artistic inspiration, music, design and lighting are illustrated by Scottish Ballet dancers, orchestra and artistic team followed by an extended extract or performance.
