This resource would not have been possible without the artists making the images available for educational purposes. Education Scotland is extremely grateful to the artists and their families for such generous assistance.
Every effort has been made to trace all copyright holders. Despite these efforts the publishers have been unable to trace the current copyright holders of some of the artistic works. If any information about them is available the publishers will be pleased to make the necessary arrangements at the first opportunity. We have been unable to trace the copyright holders of works by the following artists:
Penelope Beaton, Robert Henderson Blyth, Muirhead Bone, Phyllis Mary Bone, William Marshall Brown, William A Burns, Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell, David Young Cameron, Gordon Cameron, David Donaldson, Anne Finlay, George Henry, John Charles Lamont, Henry John Lintott, Ernest Stephen Lumsden, James Pittendrigh Macgillivray, Ellen Malcolm, James Miller, John Maclauchlan Milne, Charles Oppenheimer, Charles Pulsford, Robert Payton Reid, John Massey Rhind, John A Henderson Tarbet.
The Friends of the Royal Scottish Academy, the RSA’s sister organisation, enables the general public to become more involved in the life and work of the Academy. The profits generated by the Friends scheme are used to fund artist bursaries and residencies, exhibition awards and exhibitions/project sponsorship. The Friends of the Royal Scottish Academy also organise the annual Royal Bank of Scotland Art Award, an artistic project for Scottish secondary schools.
The Royal Bank of Scotland has supported the Art Award for many years. Thanks to the co-operation of the Friends of the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Bank of Scotland we were able to access selected slides of works, which were originally created for prizes for the Art Award, as the foundation for this resource.
