This video looks at using NAR to plan assessment.
Using the experiences and outcomes
To use the experiences and outcomes to plan learning, teaching and assessment and to develop NAR materials:
- Take time to consider the choice of experiences and outcomes. A clear rationale should be established for the choice of experiences and outcomes and the focus for learning.
- Ensure that only a very few experiences and outcomes are selected and that learning does not attempt to cover an entire outcome or outcomes.
- Ensure coherence between experiences and outcomes, learning intentions and success criteria.
- Consider how learning and teaching approaches can be active, engaging and participative.
- As part of this initial preparation process, carefully plan activities and plan the evidence to be gathered.
- The selection of learners to assess within an exemplar requires careful consideration. There must be a clear rationale for the selection of a learner or learners to illustrate progress towards the required standards for knowledge and skills within the experiences and outcomes.
- Consider how learners can be involved in the assessment process, for example opportunities and arrangements for self and peer assessment should be identified.
- Consider how to capture what learners say, write, make or do. Practitioners should choose appropriate methods and technologies to exemplify the learning and consider how they will share, record and report on the progress of the learning with others.
