The existing profiling systems within St Luke's had previously been highlighted as very good practice so it was vital that the consideration of the P7 profile fitted in with those systems.
The main aim of profiling at the school was that it would celebrate achievement with pupils and parents, as well as aiding transition and providing comment on progress across all curricular areas.
At present all children from P1-P7 have a PLP which allows them to set targets for literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing. The school had also been piloting a new reporting format that had been very well received by parents and children alike. It was important therefore that the P7 profile built on this practice and had additional impact, yet no duplication.
Good to see an indication of levels achieved. It is commendable that the young people are reflecting on the literacy skills they are developing across learning. A strength of this profile is that it reflects opportunities for dialogue between the pupils and the teacher. Careful consideration should be given to the manageability of the profile.
