Shawhead Primary School

Shawhead School is a small rural school in Dumfries and Galloway. The roll is currently 15 pupils. The school has a teaching headteacher with a 0.7 class commitment and a HT support teacher with 0.3 class commitment. The school has a very supportive and engaged parent forum.

Shawhead has involved pupils in a process of dialogue and reflection about their learning over the last couple of years. The existing process for creating and enhancing personal learning plans has provided a forum for reflective discussion between learners, teachers and parents, and a good foundation for developing the P7 profiling process.

The profile illustrates that pupils are beginning to reflect on their learning and focus on their best achievements. Parental involvement is a very positive aspect of the profile. Consideration should be given to the manageability of the profile.
