Planning around the experiences and outcomes

Planning learning within the new curriculum requires practitioners to consider a number of different factors. The 'Planning around the Experiences and Outcomes' resource is designed to assist in that planning process.

This planning tool provides support for practitioners in selecting Experiences and Outcomes appropriate to the Learning Context, developing appropriate Learning Intentions and Success Criteria and gathering successful Evidence of learning and teaching.

On page 2 of the planning tool, consideration is also given to Themes across Learning, Responsibility of All, Learning, Teaching and Assessment Approaches and Skills/Knowledge and Understanding.

Practitioners may use this resource to:

• plan for learning within a single curriculum area or discipline
• plan for interdisciplinary learning
• reflect on their current practice
• prompt professional dialogue and discussion.

Additional guidance is embedded within the planning tool. A pop-up text box will appear when the cursor is positioned over each of the section titles. Additionally, on page 2, the small icons provide URL links to supporting online documentation (Building the Curriculum 4, Themes across Learning, Responsibility of All and Learning, Teaching and Assessment Approaches).

Step-by-step guide

This PowerPoint presentation is provided which will take practitioners through a step-by-step process, showing how to populate the planning tool. On each slide there is an illustration of where to find supporting information and an example of text used in that section. This is repeated on each slide, showing how best to proceed through each section of the planner.
