Part of the National Qualifications Curriculum Support series, this resource looks at the trend of urbanisation, particularly in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Issues covered include push and pull factors, the resulting shanty towns and other problems caused by sharp urbanisation. Centring in on Rio, the materials cover favelas, Roçinha, Barra de Tijuca, as well as the support schemes for those in the favelas and possible solutions to transport and environmental problems in the city as a whole.
Users should check that documents conform with current SQA Arrangements.
