Key features - broad general education
- The S1 curriculum contains a range of courses across the eight curriculum areas.
Personalisation and choice is offered in English and maths where three times a year there is a four period block involving four choices per subject area, with choices such as drama and media in English and personal finance and ‘the history of maths’ in mathematics.
There is also a jointly planned, taught and assessed interdisciplinary (IDL) transition course, 'The Environment', which links science and social subjects for S1 into S2. - The S2 curriculum is a continuation of the S1 curriculum structure with some changes in period allocations.
Personalisation and choice continue within English and mathematics with the choices being three times per year, but this time for only three periods. - The S3 curriculum continues the breadth of S1 and S2 with all eight curriculum areas being offered.
There is choice within the curriculum areas.
Senior phase
- An S4-S6 framework.
- A model based on either five or six subjects.
- One year courses, but with the possibility of two year courses, if appropriate, and timetable permitting.
- Addition of interest options, work experience or school/community service in lieu of a column choice of qualification subject.
- Duke of Edinburgh, volunteer awards, Sports and Dance Leadership and ASDAN Qualifications are available for senior phase pupils.
