Calderbank Primary School is situated in a small village on the outskirts of Airdrie in North Lanarkshire. Calderbank and its partner school have been involved in a local authority personal learning planning working party. From this the school has developed and piloted a personal learning plan (PLP) format that is pupil lead and follows a portfolio format that is built upon throughout the year. This is now embedded in practice across both schools.
Assessment is ongoing and pupils are able to highlight proudest achievements naturally throughout the year as part of this process. It was decided that the development of a P7 profile would naturally follow on from this process, as pupils would have confidence and skills in reflecting upon the range of their progress and achievements.
Calderbank Primary School profile shows that children are beginning to demonstrate reflection on their learning. The profile also evidences a strong learner voice. This profile could be enhanced further by developing greater depth in the learner reflection. The profile would also benefit from the inclusion of levels, to provide further information concerning the learner’s stage of achievement and progress.
