
Robert Burns is regarded as the national poet of Scotland. Born in Ayrshire in 1759, Scotland's best-loved bard is famous for progressive views on politics, religion and class inequalities, which inspired both the liberal and socialist movements.
His life, work, songs and poetry are celebrated annually all over the world on Burns Night.
