Sciences 3-18 curriculum impact report

This report evaluates current practice in the sciences. It is one of a series of reports designed to gauge the impact of a changing curriculum on learners' experiences and achievements. It identifies good practice and highlights important areas for discussion and further development.

The evidence presented in this report tells us that although there is much to celebrate in sciences education in Scotland, there is still a significant amount to do to ensure that experience of the sciences for all children and young people is as good as it can be. There are numerous examples of highly effective, and indeed outstanding, practice which demonstrate what is possible.

This report, and the related follow-up activities, marks the determination of Education Scotland to work with practitioners and the wider scientific community in Scotland and beyond to make sure that our children and young people achieve the best they can in the sciences.

There is also a summary of the report written for children and young people.

It is intended that the report will act as a stimulus for children and young people, parents, practitioners and the wider scientific community to engage with each other to take forward the sciences 3-18 in Scotland.
