Slide guitar

Mainly associated with American Country and Western Music and Hawaiian music, it is created by sliding a metal bar along the strings rather than using fingers to stop notes on the frets. Listen to an example.

Fretless bass

A bass guitar without frets allowing the player to play in a similar way to a string or double bass player. This can allow for glissandi along strings, not possible on a normal bass guitar.
