Rosshall Academy

Our Games Legacy activities

Our plans are to use the theme of Commonwealth Games to improve the educational experience of S1 pupils by making them more aware of links across curriculum areas. All departments will be involved in a two-week project to develop Games-related activities with some departments working closely together.

The project will also enhance transition links with P7 pupils in associated primary schools. The PE and Maths departments are working together on recording and analysing performance data whilst the Home Economics, Technical, Art and Design and Science departments are looking at nutrition and health through the research, design, making and packaging of an energy bar for athletes. This focused theme will be a stimulus for further development of interdisciplinary learning in the school.

The Games

One of our senior pupils has been selected to go to Delhi for the Handover ceremony as part of the Glasgow 2014 Young Interaction Ambassador Programme. This has involved her in intensive leadership training.  She will provide a good link between the school and the Glasgow organising committee for the Commonwealth Games.
